Question
Why does caffeine make me sleepy?
Reality
Although it is true I was born with a pack of crayons in my hands ready to draw and create we will start with this quick sketch I did when I was 11 years old, 1979. Pencil on paper. On the back my mother wrote in pencil “Eddie 6th” (for 6th grade) My mother kept a file folder of various pieces of my work throughout my school years. This piece was of course in my 6th grade folder. There are no prints or copies of this, only the original.

Yesterday, Kinda
Well it wasn’t yesterday but I remember doing many art projects and this was one of them, a Batik I did in 1978, in 1978 I was in 5th grade and I was 10 years old. (this is one of only two existing, the other one will be on display in the Eddie Alexander Meeks museum).

A Test…
Here we have something very unique, a test panel. The only one I ever did. This is actually my very first canvas. Not considered by me a painting but was a test panel canvas for me to see if I liked acrylic paint or not. I just did random swipes and strokes to see how long I could blend the paint before it started to dry. I decided I would go with oil instead and never did anything else on canvas with acrylic. After doing this test panel I looked and thought, even though I am a realist that the test panel had a somewhat nice abstract look to it so I kept it. I did this in 1990.
